Shoot for the moon

What happens if you keep folding a sheet of paper in the middle, again and again, forty two times? Its thickness would reach the distance from Earth to the Moon. At least in theory.

In reality, however, it is almost impossible to fold a sheet more than seven times. That thought experiment made me curious and encouraged me to think further.

We are approaching the end of the year. Many people carry expectations for the year ahead, whether consciously or unconsciously. Some know exactly what they are aiming for. Others feel more strongly what they want to leave behind. Both are equally good starting points, because clarity grows not only through goals, but also through letting go.

Let us turn our attention to what you may want to reduce in the new year. Costs, extra pounds, time drainers, inner burdens, old patterns. All things that have weight and take energy.

Consistent reduction holds remarkable power. If we can fold a sheet of paper seven times, then imagine you were to halve your own topic seven times. Step by step, again and again. The mathematics shows what happens. After seven halvings, only a tiny remainder is left, and the problem is ninety nine percent solved.

That does not require magic or rocket science. Only common sense, patience, and the courage to begin. With consistency.

Shoot for the moon. Start with the first fold. Step by step.
