“Successful people take action. Right here. Right now. They never hesitate. They are all in, all the time. The idea of having everything done is an illusion. There is always one more task.”
Sound familiar?
I know this myth well. It has followed me since the day I started my career. And to be honest, it still influences the way I think and act. Sometimes more than I’d like to admit.
John F. Kennedy once said that the great enemy of truth is often not the lie—deliberate, contrived, and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. He had a point.
The action myth wears people down. It leaves little room to breathe, because there is always something else to do. At work or at home. The to-do list feels endless.
Here is the hard truth. This myth does not come cheap. I have seen too many people pay the price. They paid with their health. And these were not low performers. Quite the opposite.
The good news is that myths can be dismantled. They can be questioned and unlearned. And you have the power to begin that process any time you choose. Start by looking closer. Break the story apart. Then ask yourself what more honest and sustainable narrative could take its place. I believe you have what it takes to see what truly matters.
