Are humanoid robots and AI about to take over the world? In a library, I discovered that the real threat might be coming from somewhere else.
A notice on the wall read:
Please Do Not Eat in the Library.
The ants will get in.
They will learn how to read.
Then, they will get too smart.
Knowledge is Power.
Power Corrupts.
So… the ants will turn evil and take over the world.
Who, in their right mind, would dare leave even the smallest crumb in that library? Jokes aside, it’s brilliant how a simple rule, packaged as a humorous story, gets the point across so effectively.
Rules are far more effective when they come with meaning. Without it, they mostly trigger resistance.
How many of your rules explain the purpose, and how many just demand compliance?
